IRS Form W9: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification

A  W9  form is  regarded  as  the  IRS  or  Internal  Revenue  Service  form that is  utilized  for confirming the name, address, and TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) of an individual for employment purposes. It can also be used for other types of income-generating reasons. The confirmation is requested either by the individual who has been defined as the citizen of the United States of America or an individual who has been defined as the resident alien.

The IRS form W9 is also regarded as the request for TIN and certification form. The information that is obtained out of the W9 form is mostly used for generating the 1099 tax form. It is then utilized for the purpose of income tax filing. The information that is collected by the entity on the IRS W9 form is not supposed to be disclosed for any other reason.
